Time Development: 5 weeks

Pitch: Embody the poet Orpheus on his epic journey out of the underworld. Evolve amidst the shadows of your own myth and its interpretations, manipulate them, and if you get lost, don't worry, the legendary voice of Orpheus will guide you.

Design Focus -> How can we create an affordant environment to release the symbolic potential of the mechanics?

Main Mechanics: associate the visuals elements of the game to create a key that gives acces to the rest of the level.

-> work on affordance and semiotics to draw meaning from the association of the game elements.

Exemple: The Field of Tears

In this garden nourished by despair, Orpheus draws his new inspiration from his suffering (tears) to fuel his artistic creation (wilted flower branch, now a brush handle). ​

How we worked on the comprehension of the level design

  • Side scroller to better understand the visual association of the shadows

  • Work with players' cultural knowledge ->  main goal of the game: cultural mediation -> various clues (symbol doors + orpheus voice)
